RELEASE NBR: 46/13
The Hawaiian music group will perform at Outrigger Reef on the Beach’s poolside restaurant throughout the month of September
WAIKIKI, HONOLULU, OAHU – The votes are in and Na Pali Trio was recently announced as the 5th annual Kani Ka Pila Grille Talent Search winner. Five finalists were initially selected based on a sample music performance submitted by DVD or link to an online performance, and later evaluated by their final performances on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at the Made in Hawaii Festival. As this year’s winner, Na Pali Trio receives a one-month paid contract to take the stage weekly throughout the month of September at Kani Ka Pila Grille, Outrigger Reef on the Beach’s poolside restaurant. Additionally, the Hawaiian music group will receive complimentary studio time at Honolulu Community College’s Mike Curb MELE Studios.
“It was a tough competition with all five finalists performing to loud cheers and applause at this year’s Kani Ka Pila Grille Talent Search, but in the end it was Na Pali Trio’s traditional Hawaiian mele that blew the judges and the audience away,” said Luana Maitland, ambassador of aloha and music director at Kani Ka Pila Grille. “We’re thrilled that our guests will soon get to experience Na Pali Trio’s beautiful melodies for themselves.”
Na Pali Trio will perform at Kani Ka Pila Grille every Thursday night throughout the month of September; and in October, each of the talent search’s four remaining finalists will perform one night each along with 2012 Kani Ka Pila Grille Talent Search Winner Kamakakehau Fernandez. All performances are from 6 to 9 p.m. with the schedule as follows:
- Na Pali Trio: September 5, 12, 19, 26
- Erni Kanoa & the Nahenahe Serenaders: October 3
- Coyne Street: October 10
- Kamakakehau Fernandez (2012 Talent Search Winner): October 17
- HAPA FOLK: October 24
- ‘Ili Moa: October 31
