Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach receives Wave Award

of TravelAge West at the WAVE Awards ceremony. Honorees were celebrated in nearly 50 categories that spanned the cruise, tour operator, airline, hotel and resort, and destination travel fields. The awards gave travel agents the opportunity to recognize the outstanding qualities and services of their supplier partners and celebrate the best in travel.

The Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach, one of only seven hotels actually located on Waikiki Beach, underwent an $18.1 million renovation in 2012. What was to have been a two-year project was fast tracked and completed in just nine months. According to General Manager Robert McConnell, “The overall success was due to the collaboration of many – our hotel employees, vendors and travel partners. Without a question, this was the smoothest renovation I’ve experienced. Thanks to social media, we were able to inform our loyal guests and travel agent partners around the world on our progress with photos on Facebook and Twitter. The end result offers our guests a very unique and relaxing experience at our world famous location on Waikiki beach.”

This absolute oceanfront property today boasts upgraded guest rooms and suites –including new glass lanai railings to all oceanfront rooms and suites, a newly remodeled pool, expanded pool-deck area, and a new state-of-the-art guest elevator system. What has not changed is the full complement of free amenities and services offered to guests with no resort fee, including high-speed Internet access, direct dial local and long-distance phone calls to the U.S. Mainland and Canada, use of in-room safe, use of on-site 24-hour fitness center, daily local newspaper, weekly cultural activities, and a romantic, twice-weekly oceanfront Hawaiian Vow Renewal ceremony. Other amenities include the famed Duke’s Waikiki and Hula Grill Waikiki restaurants; Waikiki Plantation Spa, Waikiki’s only rooftop spa; and an array of shops and specialty boutiques ranging from Coach, the leading American designer and maker of luxury accessories, to Na Hoku, one of Hawaii’s finest jewelers, and the popular Society of Seven cabaret show.
