Sigatoka Special School receives Outrigger Fiji’s Walk for Kids proceeds

RELEASE NUMBER 40/17

CORAL COAST, FIJI – The event coordinators of the 2017 Outrigger Walk for Kids recently handed over a check totaling FJD$15,666 (USD$7,500) to the management staff of the Sigatoka School for children with special needs.

The funds were raised through the 2017 Outrigger Walk for Kids held April 8.

This is the third consecutive year the Outrigger Walk for Kids has been staged with the aim to make a positive contribution toward the enhancement of facilities at the Sigatoka Special School.

Funds raised from the 2017 walkathon will go toward the purchase of a school vehicle that will be used for its outreach program in the Nadroga-Navosa Province.

Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort General Manager Peter Hopgood commended the resort’s hard working sales and reservations team for their efforts and expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their continued support.

In accepting the check, Special School board member Mrs. Coral Kennedy thanked the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort for its commitment to the community and acknowledged that the contribution takes them a step closer to their aim of providing support into the more remote interior of Nadroga Navosa.

The Outrigger Walk for Kids is an annual event and aims to create awareness and acceptance of the needs that our children with special needs require.
