Fusing culture and passion, this exquisite performance ignites all the senses, sharing the rich heritage of Hawai‘i through song, dance and chant
KONA, HAWAI`I – OUTRIGGER Kona Resort & Spa is proud to unveil the enhanced Feast & Fire Lū‘au – a Signature Experience for this property and embodiment of OUTRIGGER’s dedication to connecting guests and residents with the host culture. This enchanting experience offers a captivating journey through Hawai‘i’s storied past, featuring mesmerizing performances that illuminate the island’s traditions. New for the summer, the brand-new Feast & Fire Lū‘au package includes accommodations of your choice and two complimentary general admission seats, inviting guests to partake in this cultural celebration.
Set on 22 oceanfront acres, the starlit lū‘au offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and serves fresh island fare including specialty cocktails and a grand buffet with a variety of delectable items, including a whole roasted pig.
The Feast & Fire Lū‘au is a tribute to the first Polynesians to land in Hawai‘i on the oceanfront of Keauhou Bay, just south of Kamakahonu, the residence of ali‘i (royalty). The lū‘au honors the birthplace of Kamehameha III while immersing guests in the island’s rich history.
“We are honored to be the home of Feast & Fire – Hawai‘i’s premier lū‘au which showcases the breathtaking artistry of Hawaiian dance, music and storytelling against the stunning backdrop of our resort location. With captivating performances, delicious island cuisine and a range of hands-on activities, we are confident that guests of all ages will leave our resort feeling enriched, enlightened and thoroughly entertained,” said Geoff Pearson, general manager of OUTRIGGER Kona Resort & Spa.
Curated exclusively by Traditions Hawai‘i, a local production company founded by the Lim and Yap families, the Feast & Fire Lū‘au brings together the renowned cultural practitioners behind the award-winning Hālau Manaola and Manaola fashion brand. With more than 36 years of entertainment experience, Traditions Hawai‘i showcases the combined genius of these families, who perpetuate their cultural traditions by pushing creative limits from design to delivery.
Cultural Director/Consultant Nani Lim Yap, Asialynn Yap and Creative Director Carrington Manaola Yap captivate audiences through their expertise in music, dance, costume, design and overall experience. The costume design alone is extraordinary – designed by Manaola Yap, who was recently announced as the costume designer for the new Cirque du Soleil Show ‘AUANA at OUTRIGGER Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel.
“Traditions are the fibers that tie us to place, connect us to the past and bind us together,” shared Creative Director Manaola Yap. Traditions Hawai‘i was born by a shared love of culture by founders Edward and Nani Lim Yap.
The evening also includes an Artisan Village where guests can make lei, watch a poi pounding demonstration, create an art piece by traditional bamboo stamping (ʻOhe Kāpala), or shop a selection of curated treasures from local artisans. For those who enjoy games, traditional Hawaiian games can be found on the Makahiki gaming grounds, featuring native stone bowling, Hawaiian checkers and more.
The Feast & Fire Lū‘au takes place on Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 8 p.m. – book a reservation for the show HERE.
