Kani Ka Pila Grille Supports Local Musicians with 17th Annual Talent Search

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Kani Ka Pila Grille at the OUTRIGGER Reef Waikiki Beach Resort is hosting its 17th annual talent search at the 30th annual Made in Hawaii Festival, August 24, from 3-6 p.m at the Hawaii Convention Center, and serving up new items on its menu. on Saturday.

Executive Chef Dean Kamiya joined HNN’s Sunrise to showcase new dishes reminiscent of Hawaii: a kabocha risotto vegetable dish made with kabocha squash, mushroom, beets and sprouts topped with parmesan cheese. He also prepared braised beef short ribs topped with mashed Okinawan sweet potato.

Kani Ka Pila, which means “let’s play music” in Hawaiian, is known for its unique dining experience with live Hawaiian music and supports local musicians with an annual talent search.

This year, Kani Ka Pila Grille will choose four finalists to perform at the 30th annual Made in Hawaii Festival, which runs August 23-25 at the Hawaii Convention Center.

The event will feature more than 700 vendors showcasing a wide range of products made in Hawaii including art, clothing, jewelry, food and more.

The restaurant is located at 2169 Kalia Rd in Waikiki. Hours are 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily. Dine-in, takeout and delivery are available.
