RELEASE NUMBER 15 | 25
Opportunities for Guests and Residents to Mālama ʻAina on Oʻahu and Kauaʻi throughout April
HONOLULU — In celebration of Volunteer Month Hawaiʻi 2025, OUTRIGGER Resorts & Hotels is proud to support the efforts of Kanu Hawaiʻi, a nonprofit dedicated to encouraging civic engagement and community action across the islands. Throughout April, residents and visitors are invited to participate in hands-on conservation and community activities that protect and care for Hawai‘i’s natural and cultural resources.
As part of its ongoing commitment to conservation through the OUTRIGGER Zone initiative, OUTRIGGER is helping to raise awareness and promote access to volunteer opportunities across O‘ahu and Kaua‘i during this impactful campaign. Activities are hosted by local nonprofits such as Surfrider Foundation, Limahuli Garden and Preserve as well as Waimea Valley and include restoring native ecosystems, serving as horticulture assistants, removing invasive species and supporting cultural gatherings.
“At OUTRIGGER, we believe that giving back is one of the most meaningful ways to connect with this special place,” said Monica Salter, VP of global communications & social responsibility at OUTRIGGER Hospitality Group. “It’s a privilege to support partners like Kanu Hawai‘i who make it easy for both guests and kama‘āina to lend a hand—whether it’s for a few hours or a full day. From beach clean-ups and native planting to helping at local events, every action helps build a stronger Hawai‘i. Volunteer Month is the perfect time to come together, care for the land and strengthen our communities—one act of kindness at a time.”
Now more than ever, engaging both visitors and locals in environmental and cultural stewardship is essential. Volunteer Month Hawaiʻi invites people to experience the islands through a deeper, more authentic lens—rooted in mālama ʻāina (care for the land) and community.
Guests staying at OUTRIGGER properties on O‘ahu and Kaua‘i are encouraged to explore available events and sign up directly via the Kanu Hawai‘i website at https://outrigger.volunteermonthhawaii.org. For those seeking a vacation with purpose, book a stay today at www.outrigger.com.
