BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA – Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort’s Bebe Spa Manager Praveena Dewan has joined the international spa industry’s Global Mentorship Pilot Program.

Praveena was named Spa Manager of the Year First Runner Up at the Australasian Spa Association’s awards in 2014 while Bebe Spa was named Best Destination Spa in the 2014 Pevonia Awards.

Praveena was invited to join the program and is being mentored by Mark Sands, Asia Pacific Area Director for Six Senses Spas.

The Global Mentorship Pilot Program is spearheaded by a team of spa and wellness experts from around the world with the aim of enabling the next generation of spa managers to benefit from their experience and expertise.

The project is co-chaired by Jean-Guy de Gabriac, CEO of Tip Touch international spa training and consultancy and Deborah Smith, principal of Smith Club & Spa Specialists, a U.S.-based wellness consultancy.

Each mentorship pair meets twice a month for three months via video conference or phone to discuss career challenges identified by the mentee.

Praveena said she felt blessed to be one of the few chosen from around the world.

“I’ve already had my first session and I know that there is so much I can learn,” she said.

“I look forward to improving my leadership qualities and decision making skills, gaining confidence in managing my team effectively and continuing to create a positive work environment.

“I’m more aware now of the importance of thinking outside the box to maximize revenue generating streams and hope to learn to work efficiently in any spa set up, not just in a resort spa,’’ Praveena said.
