Outrigger Goes the Extra Mile with Sponsorship of XTERRA Trail Run World Championship

WAIKIKI, HONOLULU, HAWAII – Outrigger Resorts today announced its continuing sponsorship of the XTERRA Trail Run World Championship, set to take off Dec. 7, 2014. The premier off-road event will take runners and adventure walkers of all ages along the scenic trails of Kualoa Ranch on Oahu’s north eastern side.

“Outrigger has always been a trail blazer when it comes to supporting local sporting events, so our continued involvement of the XTERRA Trail Run World Championship is a perfect fit,” said Bitsy Kelley, vice president of corporate communications for Outrigger Enterprises Group. “We’re thrilled to cheer on all of this year’s participants on race day.”

More than 2,000 runners from around the world are expected to take their mark for the race, which includes the 21K championship course, a 10K, a 5K, and an adventure walk. The fastest runners on the 21K course will be competing for a $10,000 total prize purse, and the top seven overall men and top seven overall women will receive a cash prize. All participants who conquer the half-marathon championship course will earn a finisher’s medal, and the top three runners for every age group in the 21K, 10K and 5K will receive medals and other prizes.

The XTERRA Trail Run World Championship is the culminating event of the XTERRA Trail Run Series, which is a collection of more than 70 adventurous, off-road trail runs of various distances around the world. XTERRA competitions offer athletes an opportunity to participate in exhilarating off-road races in some of the most stunning and challenging natural environments around the world.
