HONOLULU Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa and Nā Wai Iwi Ola Foundation are proud to bring back this event that pays tribute to the “Merrie Monarch,” King David Kalākaua, with a celebration of hula. The free event honors his efforts to revitalize and preserve Hawaiian culture and in particular, hula.

Established in 2006 by Nā Wai Iwi Ola Foundation by co-founders Kumu Keala China and Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa Cultural Supervisor, Rolinda Bean, E Mau Ana Ka Hula has been held every year through 2019. Now it is back to the delight of halau, vendors and community supporters.

“The connection to Outrigger since the inception of E Mau Ana Ka Hula makes the event one that is close to our hearts as we continue to honor and celebrate the cultural treasures of our island home,” shared Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa’s General Manager Steve Solberg.

Rooted in a culture of caring, Outrigger captures the hearts of travelers around the globe in The Outrigger Way by caring for its hosts, guests, the lands and sea that surround its resorts and for the local cultures and neighbors of its resort destinations.

Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa’s unforgettable Signature Experiences like E Mau Ana Ka Hula help guests feel present and connected. Likewise, its Feast & Fire Lūʻau, a premier dinner show by the award-winning Traditions Hawai‘i pays homage to the Polynesians who first landed in Hawai‘i while bringing history to life through dance, rhythms, fire, food and legend.

Held on the historic Bayview Grounds of Outrigger Kona Resort & Spa on Saturday, November 19, 2022, E Mau Ana Ka Hula will showcase Kumu Hula and students from Hawai‘i, Japan and Europe, and their style and tradition of hula. Local artisans, food and drink will make for a fun family event from 8 a.m to 3 p.m. Visit www.emauanakahula.org for more information.
