Prime Minister to Join Outrigger Fiji Walk for Kids on April 6

CORAL COAST, FIJI – The fifth annual Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort Walk for Kids to fundraise towards improving education in the Nadroga-Navosa province will be held on Saturday, April 6.

Prime Minister Mr. Bainimarana will be Chief Guest at the event which is held in partnership with the Sigatoka Special School.

In 2018, the 10km Walk for Kids raised FJD$47,000, including an FJD$20,000 pledge from the acting Prime Minister, the Honorable Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, the funds helping to purchase a four-wheel drive vehicle for the teachers at the Special School.

An initiative of the Outrigger Fiji sales and marketing and reservations team, the day is dedicated to fostering a greater sense of partnership within the Sigatoka Community and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.

All funds raised from this year’s walk will assist the children at the Sigatoka School for children with special needs, as well as the development of schools in the province.

Participants will include resort guests and staff, local business partners and other tourism stakeholders.

The walk will begin at Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort and continue through Sunset Strip, Korotogo, along the Queens Highway, across the Melrose Bridge and past Sigatoka Town before finishing at Sigatoka Special School.

Participants in the walk will gather at 6:45 a.m. for a briefing in the resort lobby with the walk commencing at 7:00 .am.

All participants will be welcomed at the finish line at Sigatoka Special School by students and teachers and presented with a certificate with prizes, giveaways, games, activities and light refreshments to follow.
