RELEASE NUMBER 72 | 17
WAIKIKI, HONOLULU, HAWAII – Calling all foodies and brunch lovers — Outrigger Hotels and Resorts is teaming up with the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival to serve up a deliciously fierce Food Fight & Bloody Marys brunch event at Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. To celebrate everyone’s favorite Sunday pastime, Outrigger is offering a VIP vacation package, inclusive of Voyager 47 premium club category rooms and admission for two, so guests can relax in style after the tasty event.
In true battle-of-the-sexes fashion, the event will pit three female chefs against three male chefs to create signature, mouthwatering dishes and thirst-quenching cocktails fit for the definitive brunch get-together. Featuring an all-star lineup of culinary talent, Outrigger’s Food Fight & Bloody Marys will test the cooking skills of Isaac Bancaco of Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, Alvin Cailan of Eggslut in Los Angeles and Elmer Guzman of Poke Stop in Honolulu on the male team, against those of Michelle Karr-Ueoka of MW Restaurant in Honolulu, Belinda Leong of b. Patisserie in San Francisco and Margarita Manzke of Republique in Los Angeles representing the female team. At the end of the head-to-head epicurean battle, event attendees will vote on their favorite pairings to determine which chef trio will be crowned the brunch culinary champions.
In addition to the food fight – a simultaneous battle of the bass will take place. Puuloa and Ei Nei, winners of the 2016 and 2017 Kani Ka Pila Grille Talent search, will go head-to-head in a music competition, vying to win a one-month contract to play at Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort.
“Our partnership with Outrigger Resorts is a tribute to Hawaii’s growing culinary scene, showing visitors that there’s so much more to the destination than sand and surf,” said Denise Yamaguchi, CEO of Hawaii Food & Wine Festival. “Food Fight and Bloody Marys is the one-and-only brunch of the 17 events we’re holding this year; with live music, fully-loaded cocktails and all-star chefs competing to serve the most mouth-watering Sunday brunch ever, it’s sure to be a knock-out occasion.”
