HONOLULU – June is World Ocean Month and OUTRIGGER Resorts & Hotels has pledged to make a difference at its premier beach resorts worldwide. Activations connected to ocean health and conservation are taking place at each OUTRIGGER Resort throughout the month that celebrate, educate and inspire guests and hosts to care for our ocean.
In Hawai‘i, the final event of World Ocean Month is OUTRIGGER Zone Day – which is celebrating its 8th year at Waikīkī Aquarium on Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
OUTRIGGER Resorts & Hotels welcomes the public to this family-friendly event to close out World Ocean Month with a splash. Attending booths include:

Participants can enjoy ocean-themed games, lively activities and a fantastic lineup of 15+ community organizations dedicated to preserving our environment! Groove to the sweet sounds of Hawaiian Music Live and MC Bruddah Wade and win awesome prizes. Plus, Kona Ice shave ice truck will be onsite to provide free treats.
OUTRIGGER will also be making thousands of “Genki Balls” in partnership with the Genki Ala Wai Project – which aims to make O‘ahu’s Ala Wai Canal fishable and swimmable in seven years. Genki Balls are mud balls made of micro-organisms that eliminate sludge that forms from mud, organic debris, trash and pollutants. All attendees are invited to help make a mud ball or two while at the Waikīkī Aquarium. Then, on July 27, the dried balls will be tossed into the Ala Wai Canal, sink to the bottom and start digesting the sludge.
Parking is available through metered street parking on Kalākaua Ave. Free entry for OUTRIGGER resort guests with valid key card; traditional entrance fees apply for the public.
