CORAL COAST, FIJI – Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort staff have taken home a swag of awards from the Fiji Human Resources Awards Night held at the Pearl Resort in Pacific Harbour.

Naveen Lakshmaiya, director of human resources, won a Gold Achievement Level Award and was named Human Resources Executive of the Year.

Human Resources Rising Star of the Year Awards went to Siteri Seru and Rachel Dean while Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort won the Learning and Development Program of the Year Award and the Health, Safety and Well-Being of the Year Award. Outrigger hosts also took out the award for Best Dressed Team.

The resort’s director of human resources, Naveen Lakshmaiya, said Fiji had extraordinary potential in the field of human resources.

“We need to create a unique environment where individuals can grow, showcase their talent and seize the opportunity. While we need to grow our businesses, as an employer, we have a responsibility to develop human resources in advancing Fiji forward.

“We handed in high-quality submissions from a very young team. This, in itself, is a great achievement. A 100-page submission by each individual was no mean feat.

“Sixty percent of our workforce is young and when they are ready with the necessary skills set, they are promoted internally and that’s what Outrigger Fiji is all about,” he said.

Outrigger Fiji general manager Peter Hopgood said he was extremely proud of his HR team.

“They have undertaken independent study at university to further develop their skills and the results at the FHRI awards were a wonderful reward for their hard work and dedication,” he said.
