Plantation Club in Mauritius launches unique Saturday brunch

BEL OMBRE — The highly praised Plantation Club restaurant in the Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort has announced a new high-end Saturday (yes Saturday) brunch for discerning diners.
The concept is for guests to enjoy as much exquisite food and drinks as they like. It is all served to their table to the accompaniment of live jazz in the cool post-colonial atmosphere of the Plantation Club. (All for MUR 3,800/US$104 per person, including taxes.)
Executive Chef Geert-Jan Vaartjes designed the menu to deliver a culinary ‘wow’ factor.
Mouthwatering highlights include: Oysters with Horseradish and Passion Fruit; Gravlax, Marlin and Lime; Lobster with Curry and Coconut Espuma; Burger with Foie Gras and Truffles; and Beef Wellington (carved at your table side).
Sweet tooth diners can touch bliss with Strawberry Truffles and Greek Yoghurt Brioche; Cardamom Pancakes; Nitrogen Ice Cream; Banana Muffin and Salted Caramel; and Lime Pie with Meringue.
“We will deliver beautiful flavors and choice beverages in an informal musical atmosphere to make The Plantation Club the place to be in Mauritius on a Saturday,” says Vaartjes.
All guests receive a Raspberry Mojito with Double Distillation Chamarel Rum on arrival. This is followed by a free-flow choice of GH Mumm Champagne Cordon Rouge Brut; Boschendal Chenin Blanc; Note Bleu de Saint-Tropez; and Penfolds Rawson Retreat Shiraz – Cabernet.
Free-flow Mauritian Phoenix Beer on tap and a selection of juices, soft drinks, teas and coffees are available.
“Brunch at the Plantation Club is unique,” says Vaartjes, “It’s not a buffet. All dishes are served to your table. Yet guests can order as much as they desire, all for a fixed price.”
The menu will evolve every month so that regular guests can make new discoveries.
They will also have the Plantation Club pool and bar to relax in before, during or after dining. Table arrangements can be air-conditioned or in the shade outdoors.
Jazz is provided by the Gin N Tonic Jazz Band.
Brunch is served 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday at the Plantation Club.
